Like a breath of fresh air...

We have some friends who have been living in Guyana for about seven years. About six years ago, they wisely decided to buy a piece of land about an hour and a half outside of town and to build a little jungle-style weekend getaway for themselves. This weekend, we joined them and had the time of our lives. My girls LOVE driving through the jungle. You must whisper the whole time, though. Don't want to wake the jaguars.
Bush driving.
Through the river! Water up over the hood of the car. Who needs roller coasters, anyways?
We made it! Aaahhhhhhhhh....relax.
Norah and Matilda find a way to relax. Quick: which kid is American and which kid is Eurpoean?!?
Water jaguar.
Turns out the best beach in Guyana is nowhere near the beach.
Kata enjoys the breeze through the palms. She does not however, find it a good idea to take a nap in a hammock.
Bribed them with cake for this picture. What a beautiful, gorgeous spot with good, good friends. Wish we could have stayed longer!
