May belongs to Norah...so far!

Norah's little sister still hasn't made her appearance, so here is what is perhaps N's last chance to have the blog all to herself. (Should we start a new blog? Change the name? Leave the spotlight all to Norah the Queenie herself? Time will tell...)
Here is proof of Norah's new passion...Airlines Magazine. Yes, Papaw has found his soul mate and Norah begs to see (and hug, and kiss...) the picture of the pilot.

Norah's other passion: the farmer. As a matter of fact, Norah prefers most days that you not refer to her by her given name, rather simply call her "Farmer." Here she is meeting Original Farmer himself, my parents' neighbor on his tractor.

Another big milestone in preparation for becoming a big sister: school (eek!!!) Norah is attending a Parents' Day Out program two mornings a week. Here she is showing off her lunch box before her going on her first day.

In an attempt to not go crazy waiting on this baby, we took a little bit of a road trip today. We drove an hour up the road to Sewanee, where I went to high school. Here are Norah and Dad on the swings behind the Sewanee bookstore.

Baby Seedy

And now for "Baby Seedy," Norah's version of the Alphabet Song:

Lots to tell!

Norah has been keeping very busy since arriving in Chattanooga last month. A recent highlight was a trip to the Chattanooga Zoo with Charlie and Bev!

Norah on goat-back: Charlie behaving badly.

Norah and Charlie taking a rest after at least half an hour of feeding the goats hay.

Norah, Charlie and Bev admiring the turkeys.

First (professional, non-disaster) haircut!

Impressed by all of the hair that was falling down. Turns out Norah enjoys being pampered.

Happy Easter!

Ok, so we're just going to skip the last couple of months' worth of images from Guyana...there are a few on Facebook if you are interested, but it was not possible to put pictures on Norah News when we were there in February/March. I am hopeful we'll have it worked out once we're back in July and have internet at the house!

For now, we're in Chattanooga anxiously awaiting Norah's sister's birth. Here is Norah's first weekend back in the US:

Norah in her Easter dress, blowing bubbles from Baba and Zedal.

Norah, me and the Dosalita bump!

Reunited with Eeeeeee!

With the Smithermans, missing Patrick terribly!

Moving Day

Norah is moving to Guyana!

Moving day in DC went very well. Since Tuesday, we have been relaxing at my parents' house in Chattanooga, preparing to fly out of Atlanta and down to Guyana on Saturday! Stella the dog arrived safely today and Patrick was there to pick her up at the airport. I will update Norah News with pictures and stories as soon as I can. Patrick reports that the internet is realllllllly slow in Guyana, so hopefully uploading pictures won't be impossible. You'll be hearing from us next in South America. Georgetown or bust!

The Big Reveal...

We had a very exciting Doctor's visit today! Patrick and I saw all of the healthy baby parts-- a beautiful face, a beating heart, spine, lungs, kidneys, stomach, five fingers and toes!!!

And then we peeked between the legs!!!

Good, happy news all around! (and she sucks her thumb...what a baby!!!)

Didn't see this one coming

I find it ironic as I log on to post pictures of the DC Blizzard that, only two weeks ago, I was "making the most" of two pitiful inches. Eighteen inches later, I've learned to be careful what I wish for! It was a lot of hard work and of course a lot of fun.

Patrick is in Guyana right now, so the first thing I did when we woke up Saturday morning to six inches with twelve more on the way, was to load the girls in the car and head for Eleanor's house on Capitol Hill where we'd be sure to have electricity and good company.

Three refugees and a kind hostess:

It started slowly Saturday morning. Yes, those are grocery bags on Norah's feet. They work.

Licking snow balls. Awesome.

Norah lost in the sea that was Lincoln Park.

Sunday morning, we woke up to a foot and a half of beautiful snow. We could also see well-plowed roads, so I got the itch to get home.

Eleanor and the daunting task:

Thanks, Sweetheart. That's a big help.

We got home easily, and found this:

Here is what I found in the backyard. Norah's tricycles are completely covered in the foreground.

I was overwhelmed by the kindness of our neighbors who came to our rescue knowing Patrick was traveling.
Here are Jakele and Tom shoveling the front:

And Sam shoveling the back:

Norah watching the workers. Happy to be home!
